By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Australian outfit Perth Glory has announced that Nigerian defender Onyinyechi Zogg has joined the club’s A-League Women’s squad for the 2024/2025 season.

The Swiss-born 27-year-old previously played for European clubs like Young Boys, FC Zurich and Servette FC Chenois in Switzerland, ASJ Soyaux in France, and German side Turbine Potsdam, as well as FC Bethlehem in Israel.

During her time with FC Zurich, she tasted the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) action and in June 2021, made her senior international debut for Nigeria.

The composed center-back is now looking forward to opening a new chapter in her career with Glory.

“Once my manager told me about the possibility of going to Perth Glory, I jumped at the opportunity,” she said.

“I have heard so much about the quality and level of the A-League Women (ALW) and always wanted to experience it and now to be able to do this with Perth Glory is such a fantastic opportunity.

“I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and Coach in person and to being an effective contributor to the club’s success.”

Zogg returned to Switzerland to play for Servette in January 2024.

Seven months later, the Nigerian defender has pitched her tent with Perth Glory.
