The Houston Dash have secured forward Michelle Alozie with a new two-year contract, effective January 1, 2025.
Alozie is one of four players to sign contract extensions following the recent collective bargaining agreement between the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and the NWSL Players Association (NWSLPA).
Alozie joined the Dash in 2021 as a national team replacement player and quickly made her mark, signing a contract that same season. Her new extension will keep her with the team through the 2026 season, with a mutual option for the 2027 NWSL regular season.
Since joining the Dash, Alozie has appeared in 54 matches across all competitions, showcasing her versatility by playing both as a forward and defender. She has contributed six goals and two assists during her tenure.
On the international stage, Alozie made her senior debut for the Nigerian National Team in Houston in June 2021 and scored her first goal for the Super Falcons that summer at Shell Energy Stadium against Portugal.
She played a key role in helping Nigeria qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and recently represented the team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris—their first Olympic appearance since Beijing 2008. Alozie was named to the Africa Women’s Team of the Year at the 2023 CAF Awards.
Off the field, Alozie’s academic achievements are equally impressive. She graduated from Yale University with a degree in molecular biology and had a notable collegiate career, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists over three seasons.
Alozie also earned Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors and first-team All-Conference recognition. She added three goals in 17 appearances during her final season at the University of Tennessee.
