Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions, Edo Queens, defeated Ghanaian league winners, Hasaacas Ladies, 3-0 in their second Group B match at the 2024 West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Champions League Qualifiers in Cote D’Ivoire on Wednesday.

Moses Aduku’s side had thrashed AS Garde Nationale from the Niger Republic 5-0 in their opening group game on Sunday, knowing that a win would seal a place in the last four.

Both sides sized themselves up in the first half, with the Nigerian side having more ball possession, but the first period ending goalless.

The Benin City-based side’s ball possession and purposes upfront paid off as Emem Essien broke the deadlock in the 57th minute.

Ten minutes later, Essien doubled the lead for the third Nigerian team to qualify for the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers.

Suliat Abideen sealed the win with her side’s third in the 87th minute as they confirmed their place in the semi-final.

Irrespective of the outcome of their final group match against Etincelle from Burkina Faso, a place in the last four is guaranteed for the Nigerian champions.

Ahead of the final group match, Edo Queens occupy the top position in Group B with a maximum of six points ahead of Etincelle which thrashed AS Garde Nationale 6-1.

The Burkina Faso Champions have four points while Hasaacas Ladies faced early elimination from the group stage with a point.
