Oluyole Flaming Queens edge Adewale Babes to maiden Ibadan Women’s League title

Curtain falls on the maiden  Ibadan Football Council (IFC) Women’s League as Oluyole Flaming Queens pipped Adewale Babes 2-1 to win the first-ever title at the Olubadan Stadium, Iyaganku Ibadan.

10 teams across Oyo State started the journey to be crowned maiden winners of the IFC Women’s League before Oluyole Flaming Queens and Adewale Babes got to the final.

Tobiloba Oladeji and Raheem Aishat scored for Oluyole Queens with Olayiwola Wura converting Adewale Babes’ solitary goal in between the former’s two goals.

The final was a repeat of the opening match which ended 3-1 in favour of Flaming Queens.

Lagelu Queens had earlier edged Salam Ladies 2-1 to win the third-place match.

Tobiloba Oladeji of Oluyole Flaming Queens emerged as the Most Valuable Player of the Competition while the Best Goalkeeper Award went to Adetoro Khadija of Oluyole for conceding the least number of goals (two goals) all through the League.

Lawal Taiwo won the highest Goal Scorer award for scoring five goals.

Overall, 56 goals were scored from the 20 matches played at the tournament.

The competition aimed at engaging the girl-child meaningfully and also developing Women’s Soccer in Oyo State.
