Onazi and Emenike Shine in Resounding Cup Victories for Trabzonspor and Olympiacos

In a spectacular display of skill and dominance, Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi and former Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike showcased their prowess in the Turkish and Greek Cups, respectively, on Wednesday.
Trabzonspor secured a resounding 6-0 victory over third-tier side Corum Belediyespor in the fourth round of the Turkish Cup. Onazi, demonstrating his goal-scoring ability, found the net in the 74th minute, contributing to Trabzonspor’s commanding lead. This marked Onazi’s second goal of the season, following his earlier league goal, and his impactful performance continues to be a key asset for the team.
The match also saw standout performances from Hugo Rodallega, who scored in the eighth and 18th minutes, Theo Bongonda in the 52nd minute, and a brace from Dame N’Doye in the 79th and 82nd minutes. However, the jubilation was briefly tempered as Rodallega received a straight red card in the 63rd minute.
Meanwhile, in the Greek Cup, Olympiacos claimed a convincing 3-0 victory against second-division side Acharnaikos. Emenike, the former Super Eagles striker, showcased his scoring prowess with a goal in the 90th minute, sealing the 3-0 triumph for Olympiacos. The team’s other goals came from Guilaume Gillet in the ninth minute and Andre Martins in the 48th minute.
Olympiacos’ stellar performance propelled them to the top of Group five in the Greek Cup, accumulating six points from two wins. Emenike’s goal-scoring spree in the Cup, with three goals to his name, adds a significant dimension to his contribution to Olympiacos, especially considering his current goal drought in the Greek Super League.
The stellar performances by Onazi and Emenike underscore the significant impact Nigerian players continue to have on the international football stage. As they bask in the glory of their recent victories, fans eagerly anticipate more stellar displays from these accomplished athletes.
