Nigeria captain, Onome Ebi says she’s ready to lead the team to glory at the FIFA Women’s World Cup (FWWC) in Australia and New Zealand this summer.
The defense veteran will be making her sixth World Cup appearance – the first player male or female African to achieve the first in history after earning her maiden outing at 2007 edition.
The 40-year-old believes it’s possible for the Super Falcons to break its record of reaching the quarter final stage set in 1999, stressing that getting maximum points in group games matters.
“It really is doable, and it’s up to us to grab the chance with both hands and show the world that we are Nigeria and that we’re not just there to make up the numbers,”Ebi told Punch.
“I’m ready for a sixth World Cup, and we’re ready as a team.”
The Super Falcons will be making its ninth appearance at the global showpiece and remains the only African team to have the highest appearance at the world cup.
The nine-time African champions will be looking to go past the quarter final stage it reached in 1999.
