Anderlecht’s Super Eagles forward, Henry Onyekuru, expressed his joy and gratitude despite his team’s exit from this season’s UEFA Champions League. Anderlecht concluded their Group B campaign with a 1-0 victory over Celtic on Tuesday, marking their sole triumph in the preliminary stage. Onyekuru, who didn’t find the net in the group stage, played the full 90 minutes in the win against the Scottish champions.
Despite finishing at the bottom of the group, Onyekuru took to Twitter to reflect on the campaign, stating, “Great win, amazing atmosphere, UEFA Champions League. Thankful.”
The victory against Celtic earned Anderlecht their first three points, but it wasn’t sufficient to secure a spot in the knockout stage. Anderlecht ended at the bottom of the group, while Celtic secured the third position and advanced to the Europa League.
Onyekuru’s contribution to Anderlecht’s campaign, marked by his enthusiasm and appreciation, showcases his positive outlook and commitment to making the most of his UEFA Champions League experience.
