Ozoro Stadium to Host Key Match Day 3 Fixtures of NNL Super 8 Playoffs

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced a venue change for two crucial Match Day 3 fixtures in the ongoing 2025 NNL Super 8 Playoffs, due to concerns over pitch quality at the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium in Ogwashi-Uku.

Following an inspection led by NNL Chairman George Aluo, the affected matches will now be played at the Delta State University of Science and Technology Stadium in Ozoro, located approximately 90 minutes from Asaba.

“The Ozoro Stadium will replace the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium due to its substandard pitch condition,” said Aluo. “We want to ensure player safety and uphold the integrity of the competition.”

Relocated Fixtures (Thursday, July 10, 2025):

Conference A: Barau FC vs Doma United FC – Kickoff: 10:00 a.m.

Conference B: Osun United vs Kun Khalifa FC – Kickoff: 1:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba remains the primary venue and will continue to host the other Match Day 3 fixtures, including:

Wikki Tourists vs Yobe Desert Stars (Conference A)

Warri Wolves vs Crown FC (Conference B)

As the competition reaches its final group stage round, the NNL reaffirms its commitment to fairness, player welfare, and competitive balance. To maintain integrity, all final group matches will be played simultaneously.

The top two teams from each conference will secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/2026 season. Conference winners will battle in a championship final on Saturday, July 12 to determine the overall NNL 2025 champion.

The NNL Super 8 continues to garner nationwide attention as clubs fight for a coveted spot in Nigeria’s top-flight football.
