Paul Bassey: Akwa United boss elected into African Club Association board

Chairman of Nigeria Premier Football League side Akwa United, Elder Paul Bassey, has emerged as the vice chairman of the newly established African Clubs Association (ACA).
Elder Bassey’s emergence follows an election at the official lunch of the association in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday.
The veteran sports journalist turned football administrator will also represent the West African Football Union (WAFU) B on the ACA board.
Hersi A. Said who is the President of Tanzanian club, Young Africans was elected as pionner chairman of the ACA. Also elected as Vice Chairman is Kaizer Chief’s Jessica Motaung.
The African Club Association inaugural meeting was chaired by CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe who saw the need for African football clubs to have a platform and a structure where they can have a voice in African football.
The ACA is also aim to protect and promote the interest of African football clubs, ensure that clubs in the region are commercially viable, globally competitive and profitable.
They will also assist in developing African youth talent, academies for boys and girls and improve the quality of African club football to be worldclass among other objectives.
