President Federation Cup: Florence Alexander reacts to Rivers Angels’ riot of Edo Queens

By Wale Mustapha
Rivers Angels defender, Florence Alexander, has expressed that her team’s convincing victory over Edo Queens in the Round of 16 encounter of the President Federation Cup was crucial for boosting the team’s confidence.
The Jewels of Rivers defeated their counterparts from Benin 4-1 in a match held at the Awka City Stadium on Wednesday.
A brace from Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, along with goals from Olamide Adugbe and Blessing Okpe, made Suliat Abideen’s goal a mere consolation for Edo Queens.
Alexander, delighted by her team’s spirited performance, commended her teammates and emphasized the need to show they’ve moved on from the heartbreak of losing the league title, focusing now on the Cup games.
“I’m really excited about how we approached that game. We were not happy with how the league ended for us, so we needed that win to prove something,” Alexander told Nigeriafootball.ng.
She continued, “We have decided to move on from that quickly, and you can see that this is where our minds are now. We will do everything to make sure we compensate the government and our supporters with the Cup.”
Rivers Angels will face Osun Babes in the quarterfinal of the President Federation Cup, with the date and venue to be decided.
