Rasheedat Ajibade makes final three for 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team captain Rasheedat Ajibade has been named in the final shortlist for the 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year, capping off a remarkable year for both club and country.

Ajibade is one of three finalists for Africa’s most prestigious women’s football honour after a stellar campaign that saw her deliver standout performances across multiple competitions.

The Paris Saint-Germain Féminine star was instrumental in Nigeria’s historic 2024 WAFCON triumph in Morocco, where she played a defining role throughout the tournament and was crowned Most Valuable Player of the competition.

Before her summer switch to PSG, Ajibade also helped Atlético Madrid Femenino secure UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification, underlining her influence at club level.

She now competes for the crown against two Moroccan stars:

Ghizlane Chebbak (Al Hilal), the top scorer at WAFCON 2024.

Sanaa Mssoudy (AS FAR), a consistent attacking threat for club and country.

Despite her brilliant performances, including winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the WAFCON 2024 final, Esther Okoronkwo narrowly missed out on a place in the top three.

Ajibade will hope to crown her exceptional year when CAF announces the winners on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, in Rabat, Morocco.
