By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward, Rasheedat Ajibade was the heroine as she scored the all-important goal for Spanish top-flight side, Atletico Madrid in a 1-0 win over Valencia on Saturday.

The former Avaldnes star scored the winning goal for the capital club in the additional minutes of the second half from Eva Maria Navaro’s assist.

She was replaced by Sheila Guijarro in the 70th minute after completing the work of scoring the crucial goal.

The goal took her tally to five with four assists in 23 league games for Atletico Madrid.

She will join her national teammates in Abuja as Nigeria’s senior women’s national team faces South Africa in one of the two-legged final round of the Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers.

The slim win ensured that Atletico Madrid maintained their fourth position on the log with 42 points after 22 games, a point behind Levante UD which has played a game less.

After the international break, Atletico Madrid will travel to meet Athletic Bilbao in another league match on April 14, 2024.
