By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

In the 2024 Ogun State FA Cup, two teams from Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, emerged victorious in both the men’s and women’s categories, showcasing the depth of talent in the region.

In the women’s final, Remo Stars Ladies, a formidable Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Castmog FA, a third-tier Abeokuta-based team.

Despite dominating the match, Remo Stars Ladies struggled to break through Castmog’s resilient defense until the 50th minute when Adaobi Okah capitalized on a cross by Arubo Oluwaseyi to score the winning goal.

On the men’s side, Beyond Limits Football Academy (formerly Remo Stars Academy) clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory over Stormers Sports Club.

Goals from Shina Ayodele, Isaac Chuwkudi, and Sunday Ogbonnaya propelled Olumide Ajibolade’s side to victory, overcoming a strong challenge from their opponents.

Beyond Limits Football Academy’s triumph marked a remarkable turnaround from their runner-up finish in the previous year’s final, highlighting their determination and resilience.

With these victories, Remo Stars Ladies, Castmog FA, Beyond Limits Football Academy, and Stormers Sports Club have earned the right to represent Ogun State at the prestigious 2024 Federation Cup, further showcasing the talent and competitiveness of football in the region.
