‘Return To Paradise’- Barcelona welcomes Nigerian superstar Asisat Oshoala

Following her participation at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia, Asisat Oshoala is back with Barcelona.

Barcelona confirmed Oshoala’s arrival with a video on their official social media platforms. Along with the video was a message that said, “@asisat_oshoala returns to paradise.”

Oshoala featured in all four games for the Super Falcons on her third campaign at the global showpiece.

Throughout the tournament, she showcased her prowess, securing one goal in four appearances. Unfortunately, the Super Falcons bowed out in an unfortunate fashion after a 4-2 Round of 16 loss to finalists England on penalties.

She started the game as the Super Falcons held Olympic champions Canada to a goalless draw in their first game.

The five-time women’s African footballer of the year was dropped to the bench for the second game but scored the winner as they defeated tournament hosts Australia.

She then made her return to the lineup against the Republic of Ireland but had to come off the bench as the Super Falcons lost on penalties to the Lionesses of England.

With her lone goal, she has become the first Nigerian football player, male or female, to score in three different World Cup competitions.

The Ikorodu-born was welcomed by Lagos State Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu before making her return to club football with Barcelona.

Oshoala, who played a big role as Barcelona won the Champions League last season, will now aim to continue to rack up more trophies as they prepare in pre-season.
