By Wale Mustapha
2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League leading scorer, Robert Mizo has expressed his desire to achieve remarkable greatness for Bayelsa United rather than individual honors.
Mizo who shot into limelight last season with the Restoration Boys was able scored eight goals with none from the penalty spot helping Bayelsa to retain their status in the Nigerian topflight.
The bulky attacker has picked it from where he stopped last season with his scoring abilities as he’s notched in seven goals in eight games, same as Remo Stars, Sikiru Alimi.
Mizo has also won the League Bloggers Award, LBA Player of the Month award for the month of October for his scintillating performance. He was instrumental to Bayelsa United’s 2-2 draw against Heartland United, scoring the late goal to secure a valuable point on Wednesday.
After the draw in Owerri on Wednesday, the forward opened up that his target was to surpass his last season’s feat and to win laurels with the Yenegoa based outfit.
“My target is to do better than last season, I want to help my team finish well this season and I’m glad I’m doing that already,” Mizo told NigeriaFootball.ng.
“I’m not bothered about the (top scorer) target, what I wish to have is to win something with Bayelsa United, any other thing is secondary.”
Bayelsa United are currently 19th on the NPFL log with seven points from eight games and will be taking on Sunshine Stars in Yenagoa on Sunday.
