Head Coach of Edo Queens, Moses Aduku has refused to accept his club as favorites to win the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women’s Football League, (NWFL) Premiership top tier division.
The Benin girls started the new season on a brighter note with a 4-1 commanding victory over FC Robo Queens in Benin on Wednesday.
Aduku whose Edo Queens won the Sheroes Cup and Betsy Obaseki Preseason Tournaments without losing a game, said the victory over a resilient Robo Queens was a reflection his team’s hard work ahead of the league start just as he wished to take each games as they come.
“It’s good to start with a win like this and I’m happy with how we approached them but the league has just started. Preseason is different from the NWFL. The Robo side took over the game, we got chances and netted four times,” he started.
“It’s too early to call ourselves title favourites, our group is being tagged the group of death, every game is like a final. We started well by winning 4-1.
“We need to go back home and correct some of the mistakes noticed and we take it from there.”
Edo Queens will travel to Port Harcourt as they play against Rivers Angels in the next NWFL Premiership encounter.
