Rumour Mills: Club Brugge brace up for Raphael Onyedika’s exit amid offers

By Wale Mustapha

Club Brugge manager Nicky Hayen has confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika could leave the club this summer.

The Super Eagles’ player has been linked with a move away from the Belgian Pro League champions.

According to reports, an unnamed Saudi club has offered €20 million for the 23-year-old midfielder with further interest in Onyedika from Premier League and Spanish clubs.

Hayen revealed that there is a strong possibility Onyedika would leave the club before the end of the transfer window.

“That chance is real. At the end of last season, there was also talk of that. We are working with the players who are there and our homework has been done by now,” Hayen told a press conference on Friday.

The manager acknowledged that there were already talks of Onyedika’s departure at the end of last season.

He emphasized that the club is prepared for his potential exit, saying, “We are working with the players who are there, and our homework has been done by now.”

Onyedika joined Club Brugge from Danish club FC Midtylland in 2022. During his time with the club, he has made significant contributions, including scoring three goals in 33 league appearances last season.

The midfielder’s potential departure would be a significant loss for Club Brugge, but Hayen seems to be preparing for the possibility. The club will likely seek to find a suitable replacement if Onyedika does leave.
