Rwanda captain Djihad Bizimana is confident that his team is ready to face Nigeria in their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday, insisting that the Amavubi will give “150%” to secure a positive result.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who plays for Al Ahli in Libya, acknowledged Nigeria’s pedigree as a strong team but emphasized that Rwanda’s focus remains on their own preparation rather than the Super Eagles’ attacking threats.
“We respect them as a big team with big names, but as players, we are really focused on what we are doing in training,” Bizimana said during the pre-match press conference on Thursday. “There’s no worry, there’s nothing to worry about. We already met them twice, and I think most of them are here, so there is nothing to worry about.”
Bizimana dismissed any concerns about Nigeria’s quality on paper, stressing that the Amavubi will be fully committed to the game despite Nigeria’s reputation as favorites. He vowed that his team would give everything on the pitch.
“We will go and try to give 100%, even 150%, because we know they are a good team and they really want to win this game to come back to the top,” he added.
With the Super Eagles struggling in their qualification campaign, Rwanda will look to capitalize on their home advantage and the opportunity to deliver an upset. As Nigeria battles for survival in Group C, Bizimana’s determination reflects Rwanda’s confidence as they prepare to face one of Africa’s biggest teams.
The match at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali promises to be a tense encounter, with both teams desperate for a crucial win to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
