Salim Lawal draws inspiration from Super Eagles goalkeeper’s commendation

Nigerian striker Salim Lawal has drawn inspiration from words of encouragement offered by goalkeeper Maduka Okoye during an inter-club friendly.
Lawal, who plays for NK 1961 Istra, was on the score sheet in his side’s 4-1 loss to Udinese at the Stadio Comunale di Codroipo.
Despite his goal, Lawal experienced mixed feelings due to his team’s heavy loss to the Italian side. He was, however, uplifted by the commendation he received from Super Eagles’ goalkeeper Okoye, which brightened his mood.
“It was a mixed feeling for me despite scoring because my team lost the game 4-1,” Lawal told BestChoiceSports.
“Though it was a friendly, we were not happy. The good thing was the commendation I got from Maduka Okoye for my goal against him and my overall performance.”
The 21-year-old promises to improve his game ahead of the new season.
“I hope to continue working hard and improving my game as we prepare for the new season.”
