Samson Unuanuel: Kano Pillars former assistant coach lifts lid on team’s relegation

Former Assistant Coach of Kano Pillars,  has opened the lid on how the team got relegated to the Nigeria National League for the first time in almost two decades, citing administrative and financial reasons.
Pillars lost four out of its last eight league games leading to the team’s relegation aside from points deduction due to disciplinary actions.
Kano Pillars at the end of last season got relegated from the top flight NPFL to the second-tier Nigeria National League and the former Kwara United gaffer revealed that there is more to the story of Sai Masu Gida’s relegation.
“A lot of things went wrong with Kano Pillars. I feel the organisation was not okay at all. The team played in Kaduna before later moving to Kano. There are lots of in-fighting here and there.” Unuanuel told Brila FM.
“I left the club due to too many issues with the club. The team just got it wrong from the screening before we got there, alas, the team went down.
“We met almost 46 players on ground which are professional players. The team were playing five hours away from Kano and virtually there is no money with Kano Pillars last season.”
With 45 points after 38 games, Kano Pillars finished last season in the 19th position which confirmed the club’s relegation alongside MFM FC, Heartland FC, and Katsina United.
