Serie A: Victor Osimhen misfires as Napoli survive scare at Genoa

By Wale Mustapha
Reigning Serie A champions Napoli rallied late to a secure 2-2 at newly promoted Genoa in a Italia Serie A encounter on Sunday.
It was a night to forget for Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen who was unlucky with chances to score for the Partenopei.
Napoli had to rely on other attackers in Giacomo Raspadori and Matteo Politano whose second half goals ensured they left Genoa with a point.
Mattia Bani had earlier gave Genoa the lead in the 40th minute, sending the ball into the roof of the net following a corner.
Mateo Retegui doubled the lead for the hosts after the break with a first-time shot into the bottom left corner.
The visitors were left helpless in the final third with Osimhen and his strike partner, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia having their efforts going off targets.
Their first shot on target would come in the 72nd minute through the latter but was well dealt with by Genoa keeper, Josep Martinez.
Raspadori halved the deficit for Napoli with less than quarter of an hour to see out the game.
The visitors were encouraged by the goal making them to push for an equaliser that would come with six minutes left to play when substitute Politano scored with a close-range volley to deny Genoa their second win of the season.
Napoli will be guest to Bologna for the next league fixture while Genoa will travel to Lecce on Friday.
