By Wale Mustapha
Technical Adviser of Rivers United Stanley Eguma has promised to resolves his side’s scoring inabilities heading into their remaining fixtures of the Nigeria Premier Football League this season.
Rivers United settled for 1-1 draw against Wikki Tourists on Thursday in one of their remaining outstanding fixtures in Group B as they focus on their sealing their NPFL Super Six qualification.
Following the drab draw, the Port Harcourt based outfit manager rued his side’s wastefulness, while aiming an improved performance in subsequent games.
“We had a lot of scoring chances which we missed. They got a penalty as well and missed, but I think it was a good and a balanced game technically,” Eguma told media.
“We suffered a little bit of fatigue, and that affected our game today. We take every game as they come, we plan for every game. Today we planned to win here, but we got a draw.
“We will go back home and correct our mistake, and intensify our preparations for the next game, and I think we will come out better in the next game.
“We tried to get the three points, but I won’t say unfortunately, but we didn’t get the desired result, and it’s okay. You can see we played with almost our second team here, as most of our key players that played in the past are not here, due to injury and fatigue, so we had to rest them.”
Rivers have two more outstanding games against Sunshine Stars and Doma United. They will first take on the Owena Whales on Monday before slugging it out with Doma United on Thursday at Adokiye Amiesimeka Stadium.
Their final league match is will be against Rangers Int’l in Awka on May 21st.
