Super sub-Jennifer Echegini inspires Juventus to draw against Inter

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

In a thrilling encounter on Sunday, Nigerian rising star Jennifer Echegini emerged as the hero, playing a pivotal role in Juventus’ hard-fought 3-3 draw against Inter Milan.

The game, marked by three penalties, saw Flaminia Simonetti break the deadlock for the hosts from the spot in the 17th minute.

Juventus had an opportunity to level the score from the penalty spot in the 34th minute, but Cristiana Girelli failed to convert.

However, Girelli redeemed herself by equalizing for Juventus from another penalty in the 38th minute. Inter regained the lead early in the second half through Michela Cambiaghi, only for Arianna Caruso to level the score once again in the 58th minute.

Substitute Echegini then made her mark by giving Juventus the lead for the first time in the match just five minutes later. Despite Annamaria Serturini’s late goal for Inter, both teams ultimately settled for a 3-3 draw.

Echegini’s impactful performance saw her come off the bench to score her fifth goal of the season in the Italian Serie A women’s league, highlighting her growing influence on the team.

Juventus currently sits in the second position in the Championship group, accumulating 44 points, seven points behind leaders AS Roma, who have a game in hand.

Their next challenge will be against Fiorentina on March 30, 2024, in a match filled with anticipation and high stakes.
