Nigerian forward Joy Omewa showcased her goal-scoring prowess for Danish top-flight side Fortuna Hjorring, netting twice to salvage a 2-2 draw in Sunday’s thrilling encounter.

Facing Nordsjaelland, the hosts found themselves trailing by two goals at halftime, courtesy of a brace from Anna Walter.

However, Fortuna Hjorring staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, sparked by Omewa’s efforts. In the 63rd minute, Mathilde Carstens set up Omewa to reduce the deficit with a well-taken goal.

Then, in the dying moments of the game, Omewa capitalized on Anastasia Pobegaylo’s assist to secure her second goal, leveling the scoreline at 2-2.

Omewa’s brace takes her tally to four goals in 12 league appearances this season, highlighting her importance to the team’s attacking prowess.

Fortuna Hjorring currently occupies the fourth position in the Championship standings, amassing 23 points from 15 games. They trail league leaders Brondby by eight points, setting the stage for an exciting clash between the two sides in their next fixture on March 4, 2024.
