Taiwo Awoniyi: Premier League icon highlights qualities of Nigerian striker

Former Liverpool and Manchester United forward, Michael Owen has expressed admiration for Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi following the Nigerian performance on Monday night.
The Super Eagles striker produced a five star performance in Nottingham Forest’s 4-3 over Southampton scoring two goals for the Triky Trees to move them three points out of Premier League drop done.
Owen who was one of the Premier League’s guest analysts for the match at the City Ground, was impressed with former Union Berlin forward, adding that Awoniyi’s pace and physicality made him a threat for league defender.
He (Awoniyi) is scoring goals, he’s got pace, he can finish like he did with the first one, and then he gets with his back to goal as well,” said the former England and Liverpool star on SuperSport.
“He’s equally as dangerous like that so very hard to play against because a lot of players that maybe haven’t got pace, you can try to squeeze them outside the box.
“But when you’ve got both, when you can do that and you can run in behind, and you’ve got pace and strength as well then all of a sudden you become a real problem for defenders,” Owen remarked.
Awoniyi has netted six goals and assisted one in 24 Premier League appearances for Nottingham Forest.
