Two times Champions Beyond Limits Academy of Ikenne earned a 3-0 win over Iganmu FC in the opening match of the 2022/2023 Creative Championship League (TCC) season on Sunday.
Beyond Limits started the encounter with Olisa in goal alongside Dikko Adebayo, Stanley Joseph, Iboro Victory, Musa Abdullahi, Ayomide Ogungbe, Ogundare Farouq, Obasi Onyebuchi, Yahaya Buhari, Oladeji Leye, and Ogundana Shola.
For Iganmu FC, Emeka Uzor, Remilekun Kabiru, Abdulrahmon Teslim, John Fidelix, Azeez Olaniyi, Damilare Lukmon, Kazim Jimoh, Adeola David, Bamidele Adeleke, Onilude Wariz, Opeyemi Yekini got starting places.
It wasn’t a straightforward win for the Ikenne-Remo-based side as the first half didn’t record any goal despite having lion’s share of the ball possession.
Iganmu FC’s defence put up a strong first-half display which prevented the back-to-back Champions from causing havoc.
Beyond Limits’ incessant pressure upfront eventually paid off as an infringement led to a penalty kick being awarded to the host. Ogundare Farouq easily converted the resulting penalty kick in the 58th minute.
In the 70th minute, Ogundana Shola scored Beyond Limits’ second goal of the encounter before substitute Arhieri Kparobo converted the third goal from a rebound in the 87th minute.
The opening game of the TCC League marked the usage of referee communication device which was adopted during the game.
Beyond Limits will next face Atlantic Business FC in its next game while Iganmu will hope to bounce back with a home tie against Gbagada FC.
