CAF Confederation Cup: Kotoko’s Atwi eyes Kwara United upset in Abeokuta decider

By Dayo Awoniyi
Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Atwi has expressed confidence that the Ghanaian giants will finish the job when they face Kwara United in the decisive second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round tie in Abeokuta.
The Porcupine Warriors edged the first leg 4-3 in Kumasi, leaving the contest finely balanced heading into Sunday’s return fixture in Nigeria.
Kotoko, two-time African champions, arrived in Nigeria on Friday and held their first training session at the match venue on Saturday, with team spirit reportedly high.
“We are going into the game with the mentality to win, and we are confident of qualifying ahead of Kwara United,” Atwi declared.
For Kwara United, who reached the group stage of the competition in 2022, overturning the one-goal deficit at home will be a test of resilience.
The Harmony Boys are banking on their attacking strength and home support to neutralize Kotoko’s threat.
With both clubs eyeing progression, Sunday’s clash promises another fiery chapter in the storied Nigeria–Ghana football rivalry.
