Renowned football intermediary Marshall Sam Mbre has hailed Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen as the best striker in the world, while questioning why the Napoli forward is not receiving the recognition he deserves on the global stage.

Speaking at an award ceremony in Lagos, Mbre described Osimhen as “the hottest striker in the world right now” and said the 2023 African Footballer of the Year deserves to be treated with greater respect—particularly in terms of wage offers from top clubs.

“If Liverpool can offer Florian Wirtz what they gave him, why can’t they give Osimhen what he’s demanding?” Mbre asked.

“Is it because he’s an African and a Nigerian? For someone who has won the African Best Player Award, he definitely deserves more respect.”

Mbre, known for his work in talent discovery and development, also backed Osimhen’s wage demands, saying his performance and consistency fully justify them.

Osimhen, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, scored 35 goals in 39 appearances for the Turkish champions and is expected to make a high-profile move this summer.

He has been linked with several top European clubs including Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea. Galatasaray are also reportedly keen to secure his services on a permanent basis.

The Nigerian forward recently turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, signalling his preference to remain in top-tier European football for the 2025/2026 season.
