U17 AFCON: Nigeria are focused on beating Burkina Faso – Abdullahi Abubakar
By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria U17 playmaker, Abdullahi Abubakar said the team is focused on defeating Burkina Faso in their quarter final tie on Thursday May 11.
Abubakar’s dramatic goal secured a 3-2 victory for the Golden Eaglets against South Africa to secure a quarter final berth.
The forward, who score three goals at the 2022 WAFU-B Championship admits relieved finding the back of the net against South Africa after failing to score in two opening games.
“I feel much relieved after I scored against South Africa,” Abubakar told CAFOnline.com.
“I scored 3 goals in WAFU last year and i was getting worried when i could not score in our first two games especially against Morocco.
“We will not underrate Burkina Faso but play our game with a strong mentality to win as our coaches have taught us.
“The game will not be easy no doubt about that but we are focused on winning and qualifying for the World Cup.”
The Golden Eaglets will trade tackles with Burkina Faso as they chase a semifinal slot and winning the U17 AFCON for a personal record of three times.
