UCL: Ademola Lookman returns to training ahead of Club Brugge clash

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria international Ademola Lookman has made a timely return to Atalanta’s training ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League second-leg playoff against Club Brugge.

The 27-year-old winger had been sidelined with a knee injury sustained during training ahead of Atalanta’s group stage match against Barcelona last month.

His absence has been keenly felt as the team has struggled, winning just three of their last 13 matches across all competitions.

However, Lookman was spotted back on the pitch during a training session at Atalanta’s facility on Monday afternoon, and reports indicate that he also participated in part of the team’s session on Sunday.

Atalanta faces Club Brugge on Tuesday in the second leg of their Champions League playoff, with the Italian side trailing 2-1 after last week’s defeat.

Lookman’s return offers a crucial boost as La Dea looks to overturn the first-leg deficit and progress to the next round.

The Super Eagles forward has been a standout performer this season, contributing 14 goals and seven assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.

His presence in the squad could be the key to Atalanta’s chances in the upcoming decisive match.
