UEFA Europa League: Samu Omorodion at the double as Manchester United hold Porto

By Wale Mustapha

Sensational Nigerian striker Samu Omorodion stole the spotlight by scoring twice as FC Porto battled Manchester United to a thrilling 3-3 draw in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

Manchester United appeared on track for victory after goals from Marcus Rashford (7′) and Rasmus Hojlund (27′) gave them a 2-0 lead. However, Porto swiftly fought back. Pepe pulled one back for the Portuguese side in the 27th minute, and Omorodion equalized in the 34th minute.

Omorodion then completed a remarkable comeback for Porto in the second half, scoring his second goal in the 50th minute to put Porto ahead 3-2. The Nigerian striker has now scored six goals in as many games across all competitions this season.

United’s frustrations grew when Bruno Fernandes was sent off in the 81st minute for a second yellow card, leaving them down to 10 men. But in dramatic fashion, Harry Maguire salvaged a point for the visitors with a stoppage-time equalizer in the 91st minute, securing the 3-3 draw.

With the result, Porto are now in 24th place in the group, while Manchester United sit in 21st, both with one point from two matches.
