Vera Samuel talks up contribution to Bayelsa Queens League quest

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

After scoring her second goal of the season, Bayelsa Queens player Vera Samuel is finding her goal-scoring form at the right time.

She opened scoring for the Prosperity Girls during a 3-0 victory against Adamawa Queens in a Matchday four clash on Wednesday.

Cynthia Mega and Rose Ekong added two goals to seal a comfortable win for the host to the delight of Samuel.

“I feel great and happy contributing to my team’s success, securing three points and also scoring,” She said.

“To be honest, my intention isn’t to compete for the highest goal scorer award. It happens that I’ve been opportune to score. I just want to be an important part of the team. I want my presence in and off the pitch to be felt.”

The goal for the former Delta and Edo Queens player was a consecutive goal-scoring feat after also finding the back of the net during the previous 5-1 win against Benue Queens in Lafia.

“My plans remain the same contributing to my team’s success, securing points for the club. My secret is God and training.” She conclusion.

Samuel was part of the Edo Queens squad that reached the semi-final of the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.

The experience is paying off, with two goals in four games for the Yenegoa-based side.
