Victor Osimhen celebrates Galatasaray’s historic 25th Süper Lig title

By Monsurah Olatunji

Galatasaray fans flooded the streets of Istanbul over the weekend as the club secured its record-extending 25th Süper Lig title, with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen playing a central role in the celebrations.

The 26-year-old forward, on a surprise loan from Serie A champions Napoli, delivered a standout season, helping Galatasaray clinch both the Turkish Süper Lig and Turkish Cup to complete a domestic double.

Osimhen scored 25 goals in league play and finished the season with 36 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions, further establishing himself as one of the most lethal forwards in world football.

Following the title win, Osimhen joined fans and teammates in celebratory events across Istanbul.

On social media, he shared images of himself holding up five fingers—symbolizing Galatasaray’s fifth star, earned by winning 25 league titles, a first in Turkish football history.

Galatasaray supporters have since launched the #StayWithUs campaign online, urging Osimhen to make his stay permanent.

His performances have made him a fan favorite, and many hope he will remain with the club despite strong interest from top European teams.

However, the Nigerian international’s future remains uncertain. With his proven goal-scoring ability and rising global profile, Osimhen is expected to attract significant attention during the upcoming transfer window.

As Galatasaray celebrates a historic season, questions now turn to whether they can retain the striker who helped power them to the pinnacle of Turkish football.
