Victor Osimhen Reassures Fans After Algeria Win, Targets AFCON Glory With Super Eagles

Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has reacted to Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Algeria at the Marrakesh Stadium on Saturday evening, assuring fans that the team is determined to sustain its impressive momentum at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Osimhen produced a standout display against the Desert Warriors, scoring once and providing an assist to help Nigeria secure a place in the semi-finals. His influential performance also earned him the Man of the Match award — his first of the tournament since AFCON kicked off in December.

Speaking after the match, the Galatasaray forward expressed gratitude to Super Eagles supporters around the world, while acknowledging the difficulty of the encounter.

“Hello to the Super Eagles fans. Thank you for your support worldwide,” Osimhen said.
“This victory was not easy and I am happy that the team got the victory against Algeria.”

Osimhen also reiterated the squad’s ambition to keep building on their current form as Nigeria chase a fourth AFCON title.

“We continue to build on this momentum, and hopefully, we get to the final and win it,” he added.

The goal against Algeria took Osimhen’s tally at the tournament to four and further strengthened his impact in Morocco. At international level, the strike moved him to 35 goals for Nigeria, leaving him just two goals short of equalling Rashidi Yekini’s long-standing record as the Super Eagles’ all-time leading goalscorer.

Nigeria will next face host nation Morocco in the semi-finals, with Osimhen expected to play a key role once again as the Super Eagles look to keep their title hopes alive and extend their impressive run at AFCON 2025.
