Nigeria forward Rinsola Babajide has stressed that securing all three points was the priority after Nigeria’s hard-fought 1–0 victory over Botswana at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
A late goal from Chinwendu Ihezuo sealed the win for Nigeria in a scrappy encounter on Thursday night, booking their place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Reacting after the game, Babajide acknowledged the team’s sub-par performance but maintained that advancing in the competition was the main objective.
“It wasn’t always pretty, but the win is the most important thing. Anyways, into the quarterfinals,” the Tenerife FC forward said via her social media account.
The Super Falcons now top Group B and will wrap up their group-stage campaign against Algeria on Sunday evening at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, aiming to finish with a perfect record as they continue their pursuit of a 10th WAFCON title.
