Women’s World Cup star Ifeoma Onumonu receives flowers from Gotham fans

Nigeria striker Ifeoma Onumonu was treated to a elegant reception on her first home game for Gotham against Uchenna Kanu’s Racing Louisville on Monday, August 28, 2023.
The 29-year-old forward is back for New York/New Jersey’s NWSL outfit Gotham and received flowers along with other teammates who participated in the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The Nigerian featured in all four games the Super Falcons played at the global showpiece before crashing out on penalties against England in the Round of 16.
Although, she did not score a goal at the 32-nation tournament, she was an integral part of the team success who finished the group unbeaten for the first time.
Onumonu returns to a starting role for Gotham against Uchenna Kanu’s Racing Louisville but was replaced in the 57th minute by Lynn Williams after receiving a yellow card in the 21st minute.
Her compatriot, Uchenna Kanu was introduced by Racing Louisville for Paige Monaghan.
Although, the game ended in a draw Onumonu’s fourth-placed Gotham returned to action against North Carolina Courage on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
