Former Nigeria international Peter Rufai has backed Nigeria to succeed at the 2024 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Cote D’Ivoire.
The Super Eagles finished top of the group A of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers with 15 points from six matches.
Legendary goalkeeper, Rufai was delighted with the whitewash of Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo, stressing that the Super Eagles will be difficult to stop at the AFCON over the quality of players at their disposal.
“I am very delighted with the general performance of the Super Eagles against Sao Tome and in the group,” Rufai told Blueprint.
“ This is just what Nigerians want to see, goals and goals. But critically looking at the team, I want to believe that they will be a tough nut to crack at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
“Nigeria have quality players at the moment and I am optimistic they will go far in Ivory Coast.”
The Super Eagles will engage Saudi Arabia in an international friendly on October 13 at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão Stadium, Portugal as they prepare for the next AFCON in Ivory Coast.
