By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team pipped Team Delta 1-0 to record their first win at the female football event of the 2024 National Sports Festival on Tuesday.

Jumai Adebayo’s second-half goal separated both sides at the Babcock University pitch, Ilishan, Remo.

She scored the winning goal in the 50th minute to seal victory.

Flamingos had earlier played out a 0-0 draw with Team Abia on Monday to open their campaign on a shaky note.

They are representing the Invited Junior Athletes (IJA) at the Gateway Games.

The Sports Festival is serving as a platform for Bankole Olowookere’s side to prepare for this year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Morocco is staging the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
