Head Coach Justine Madugu of the Super Falcons has summoned a squad of 23 players, including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Michelle Alozie, midfielder Toni Payne, and forward Rinsola Babajide, for two upcoming friendly matches against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.
The roster also features defenders Osinachi Ohale, Oluwatosin Demehin, and Shukurat Oladipo, midfielders Deborah Abiodun and Jennifer Echegini, as well as forwards Ifeoma Onumonu and Francisca Ordega.
The matches are scheduled to take place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo on Saturday, 31st May, followed by a second match at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Tuesday, 3rd June.
The Falcons aim to utilize these matches as part of their preparation for the 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will be held in Morocco from 5th to 26th July, while the Lionesses seek to maintain their competitive edge after missing out on this year’s Women AFCON finals.
All selected players are instructed to report to the Am2pm Hotel in Ijebu-Ode by Monday, 26th May.
Nine-time champions Nigeria (they also won the two non-tournament-format competitions in 1991 and 1995) will be up against Tunisia, Algeria and Botswana in group B of the 13th Women AFCON in Morocco.
