CAF President Motsepe challenges President Tinubu for Nigeria to host World Cup

The President of Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr Patrice Motsepe has wooed Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support the West African country’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup.
South Africa remained Africa’s sole host of the tournament in 2010 as Spain ruled the world ahead of the Netherlands.
Morocco is expected to co-host the tournament in the future alongside Spain and Portugal.
A Nigerian journalist asked the CAF President ‘when can Africa host the World Cup again?’ during a press conference in Abidjan.
“I know the President of Nigeria is coming for the final, I will ask him to put in a bid for Nigeria to host the World Cup. Nigeria must put in a bid. I will have a conversation with him about it.” Motsepe said.
He equally revealed that the 2023 AFCON had over N2 billion viewers worldwide adding that Africans should be proud for this great feat.
“We have had close to 2 billion people watching AFCON globally. We should be proud as Africans and the next one will be even better.”
Previously, Nigeria has hosted the FIFA U-17 and U-20 World Cups before the West African nation hosted the FIFA U-20 World Cup won by Spain in 1999, and Switzerland won the FIFA U-17 World Cup hosted by Nigeria 10 years later.
