Injured Nigeria striker, Victor Boniface will be available as Nigeria face Côte d’Ivoire to decide who will be crowned champions of Africa for the 2023 Nations Cup (AFCON) in Abidjan on Sunday 11 February.
The Bayer Leverkusen star was among the players called up by head coach Jose Peseiro for the tournament but had to bow out due to an injury.
Despite the setback, the 23-year-old has endeavoured to follow all the actions on his TV set, cheering his teammates on for victory.
Boniface mostly joined the team’s dressing room celebration after every match via video calls. In a video chat with his colleague Victor Osimhen after their semifinal victory against South Africa, the Bayer striker revealed his plans to fly down to Cote d’Ivoire for the AFCON 2023 final match at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.
However, further inquiry from the Napoli striker pointed out that the incapacitated player was yet to recover and was still on crutches for walking aid.
“I dey come with my third leg on Sunday,” Boniface said on Instagram live.
Bayer Leverkusen has now granted him the permission to be physically present with the team on Sunday.
