By Saheed Afolabi

Remo Stars’ Head Coach Daniel Ogunmodede voiced his disappointment after their 4-1 defeat to Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede has revealed that Sporting Lagos were lucky to defeat them 4-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

The Sky Blue Stars were handed their biggest loss of the season in the Southwest derby despite winning the first leg 2-1 in Ikenne.

Disappointed Ogunmodede said Remo Stars lost vital points in a game that they aimed to win as he accepted responsibility for the loss and apologized to the traveling fans for the unacceptable result.

“We lost a very vital point, three points is what we aimed to get but we got nothing,” Ogunmodede told the media after the game.

“My apologies to our passionate fans, it’s a woeful loss and unacceptable, so I take responsibility for the loss and this is football, it happens. Our moment of defending in this game was very poor and we allowed them so much time to run around our defense and they have got so much speed.

“We had too many misplaced passes and they utilized it. They were lucky to put the ball in our net, we accept the defeat and we move forward. “To win our next game against Enyimba is our focus. We want to make our fans happy.”

Despite the defeat, Remo Stars maintain their fifth position in the NPFL standings with 39 points from 23 matches. They are gearing up to face Enyimba in their next game at Ikenne, aiming to regain momentum and continue their quest for success in the league.
