Rumour Mills: Sevilla firm on keeping Akor Adams amid summer squad overhaul

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Sevilla are determined to retain Nigerian striker Akor Adams for the 2025/26 season, despite a summer expected to bring significant squad changes.

Adams, 24, joined Sevilla in January from Montpellier for €5.5 million but was limited to just 131 minutes in LaLiga last season due to a muscle injury sustained against Atlético Madrid in April.

The Nigerian striker missed the remainder of the campaign as he struggled to regain fitness.

Although Sevilla’s sporting director Víctor Orta, who orchestrated Adams’ transfer, has since left the club, Adams remains under contract until 2029.

Financial constraints and the challenges of securing a replacement mean Sevilla are unlikely to entertain offers for the forward.

Alongside Adams, attackers Isaac Romero and Peque are also vying for places in the squad during preseason.

The final selection will depend on the new head coach—whether Imanol Alguacil or another appointee replacing Joaquín Caparrós.

If he can stay injury-free, Adams is expected to play a key role in Sevilla’s campaign next season.
