Tolu Arokodare on target in Genk league loss to Leuven

Nigeria forward Tolu Arokodare opened his goal account for Genk in the 2024/2025 Belgian Jupiler Pro League during a 2-1 loss to Leuven on Saturday.
The hosts went ahead when Mathieu Maertens set up Moroccan, Youssef Maziz in the 22nd minute at the Den Dreef, Heverlee.
Thibaut Vlietinck doubled the lead for Leuven from Ewoud Pletinckx’s assist in the 36th minute.
Arokodare reduced the deficit for the travelers in the 62nd minute as he combined with his compatriot, Yira Sor to pull a goal back.
With five minutes remaining on the clock, Manuel Osifo set up Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson, who restored Leuven’s two-goal lead.
Arokodare played the full 90 minutes, while Sor was introduced in the 46th minute in place of Konstantinos Karetsas.
Another Nigerian, Chukwubuikem Ikwuenesi replaced Vlietinck in the 69th minute for Leuven.
Leuven occupy the second position in the league with four points after two games.
KRC Genk, on the other hand, seats in 12th place with a point after two league matches.
