Plateau United head coach, Mbwas Mangut, is targeting a crucial away victory when his team faces Akwa United in Uyo on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
The Tin City Boys are currently in 14th place in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), with 15 points from 13 matches, just two points above the relegation zone.
Mangut emphasized the importance of securing all three points from this fixture to improve their standing on the league table.
“For us to feel more comfortable in our position on the log, we need to get points as quickly as possible,” Mangut said in a statement to Plateau United’s media.
“It will be a tough game, but we are fully prepared and won’t back down. Akwa United is a formidable side, and we respect them, but we are focused on getting the win.”
While acknowledging the challenge posed by their hosts, who are struggling in the relegation zone, Mangut remained optimistic about his team’s chances.
“We will approach the match with full concentration, and we are confident we can take on Akwa United as it comes. Football is nothing without the fans, and they bring a lot to the atmosphere of the game.”
Plateau United will aim to continue their push for a higher position on the table with this vital away match, which is expected to be a defining moment in their season.
