Reuben Bala: Enugu Rangers striker extols NPFL-Dozy Mmobuosi tourney initiative

Enugu Rangers’ new signing Reuben Bala has commended the organizers of NPFL-Dozy Mmobuosi Preseason Tournament for the initiative, stressing that it will help participating teams be in top shape ahead of new season.

Four Nigeria Professional Football League, (NPFL) clubs, Enyimba Int’l, Shooting Stars, Bendel Insurance and Rangers Int’l have been selected to participate in the inaugural edition expected to get underway in Lagos this week.

Bala who just teamed up with the Flying Antelopes from Plateau United feels the introduction of the tournament was very timely as it will serve as prelude to the season proper just as he promised fans of Rangers a better outing.

“Well, I am very happy that a tournament like this is being organized before the commencement of the season, and I appreciate those that made it possible,” Bala told media.

“The timing of the competition is quite perfect and it matches the overall programme of the league organizers, knowing that the season may kick any moment after the competition.

“This will offer all the participants the opportunity to carry out fair assessment of their state of preparedness.”

The organisers announced 100 million prize money for winners  as well as 10 million each as appearance fee and the former Enyimba player hailed the selection of participating teams in the inaugural competition.

“The selection of Enugu Rangers along with the other participating clubs is ideal, going by their history and tradition, he said.

“I pray invitational and pre season competitions like this will be sustained in the future, so it can stand the test of time,” concluded Bala.

The Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup will become one of the major domestic trophies winnable by the elite clubs in the NPFL every season going forward.
