Ashleigh Plumptre celebrates new kids book that embraces dual nationality

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, has identified with a new children’s book.
Plumptre is only Super Falcons star playing in the English topflight following her nationality switch to represent  Nigeria at the senior level after featuring for England at the youth level, having being born to English parents but her Nigerian roots can be traced to her paternal grandfather, a Yoruba man who was born in Nigeria.
Plumptre shows off the new book titled ‘Clever Carmel’ explaining why it is of importance to mixed-heritage children.
“Thank you @howh_ for sending me a copy of your very own beautiful book, Clever Carmel,” the 24-year-old announced on her official Instagram account.
“This is a story that resonates with so many young, mixed-heritage boys and girls.
“A story that teaches us to celebrate an identity within two cultures and encourages us all to acknowledge the power that our heritage can have on our passions, values and relationships!”
The Leicester City defender received her first call-up for an eight-day training camp held in Austria in July 2021 where she made her unofficial debut  in a 1–0 friendly win over Slovenian 1. SŽNL club Olimpija Ljubljana.
Her presence was felt when the FIFA officially cleared her to represent Nigeria and then she made her senior Nigeria debut for the Super Falcons of Nigeria in February 2022 starting in a 2–0 win over Ivory Coast during the Women’s Africa Women Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualification.

The British-Nigerian is expected to return to action when Leicester City welcomes Liverpool in their next league game scheduled for Saturday, April 29, 2023.
