NWFL: Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi sings Aisha Falode’s praises

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former NFF first Vice President and Lagos FA chairman, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi has applauded Aisha Falode for her contribution to the Nigeria Women’s Football League and girl-child empowerment.
Aisha who was the chairperson of the league for five years since taking over in 2017, held a brunch meeting in Lagos where ex-NFF board members, ex-players, and journalists were present.
At the brunch on Tuesday, Akinwunmi recounted his memories of Aisha and referred to her as “Good Problem”.
According to the Barrister, Aisha is the perfect example of giving a capable woman a chance in leadership.
“I call her a problem but a good problem because she always brings forward challenges facing women’s football.
“She is passionate and dedicated that it becomes difficult for you to say ‘NO’ to know to her because you know she has the best interest of the players at heart.
“I have a lot to say about her but I was more impressed when she pulled the Aisha Buhari Cup in Lagos. Many people said she can’t. But she did.
“She brought stability to the league. The kickoff date and time were never postponed. Referees get paid before the match to avoid biases in officiating.
“She brought discipline to the league. Media began to get content, and radios and TVs began to create special shows to cover women’s league. Even clubs begin to have fanbases that now talk and look forward to matches.
“Well done, Aisha. Your legacies will not be forgotten.”
