Afcon 2023: Super Eagles lament hot Abu Dhabi’s weather

As the curtains draw nearer for the kickoff of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Nigeria senior men’s national team has a taste of Abu Dhabi heat ahead of their opening group match in Ivory Coast.
To get familiarized with an expected similar weather condition, especially when the majority of the team players are based in Europe whose current weather is snowy, Nigeria decided to camp its team in the hot Abu Dhabi.
A one-week training camp that will end on Tuesday when the team will return to Lagos for a send-forth party before jetting to the host country the next day for the tournament proper.
The Super Eagles are in Group A of the four-week, 24-nation finals alongside host nation Cote d’Ivoire and Africa’s other two Guinean nations – Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.
In a video shared on X by the official Super Eagles page, the players appeared to be training under extremely hot weather different from what they have been witnessing in their country and their respective club sides.
Along with the video was a message that said, “All work, no play in the heat of Abu Dhabi.”
