Akor Adams hails Sevilla’s mentality after match-winning goal at Rayo Vallecano

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Nigerian striker Akor Adams has praised Sevilla’s fighting spirit after scoring the decisive goal in their 2–1 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio de Vallecas.

The 24-year-old was introduced in the 69th minute by head coach Matías Almeyda as Sevilla searched for a breakthrough in a tightly contested La Liga fixture.

Adams repaid that faith in the 87th minute, latching onto a loose ball to net the winner and secure all three points for the visitors.

“Before speaking about myself, I think it was a great game from the team, with an important fight and good mentality,” Adams said after the match.

“I had the opportunity to come on, I was ready and working hard, and I’m very grateful for the chance. We didn’t give up. We have a top mentality in the group. The coach has confidence in what we can do, and you can see it in the games.”

The goal marked Adams’ first for Sevilla in his ninth appearance since joining the club, adding a key milestone to his early spell in Spanish football.

Beyond the personal achievement, Adams’ late winner extended Sevilla’s strong run of away form and provided further momentum as they continue climbing the La Liga standings.
